More than 30 Long Island Executives turned out for a morning long seminar and networking event on Key Leadership Strategies for 2010, a program which raised nearly $3,000 for Best Buddies New York.
Sponsored by Merrill Lynch and keynoted by Ellen Cooperperson, President of Corporate Performance Consultants, and Rich Isaac, President of Sandler Sales Training, the program brought together leaders from the region for a powerful series of seminars on communication, team building and business development. It was not a morning for the weak of heart.
Following brief remarks by BBNY staff, a brief presentation was made by a buddy pair, Nick and Matt, from William Floyd High School, whose story brought tears to the eyes of nearly everyone in the room.
“They are reason we are here today”, explained Cooperperson in her remarks to the audience.
Cooperperson created the concept for the half day program as a way of generating awareness and funds for Best Buddies New York.
After becoming a member last year of The Long Island Way, an organization whose mission is to partner not-for-profit organizations with a corporate partner, Cooperperson was hoping to bring her skills and talents along in helping to benefit her not-for-profit match. As her match, Best Buddies New York has truly benefited.
“We couldn’t ask for a more committed partner,” stated BBNY State Director, Tammy Severino. “Ellen truly understands that with awareness of our mission will come the friends we need in the community to grow and achieve our goals in New York.”
Cooperperson recruited Isaac to be her speaking partner, Merrill Lynch as the sponsor and used the full resources of her office to pull the event together. As an executive training coach and consultant to some of the best known firms in the region, Ellen has offered her expertise and helped companies find their way out of crises, reach desired goals for growth or determine what their goals should be for the next several years – to name a few scenarios.
Isaac, best known in the marketplace for working to increase productivity and performance with sales teams, gave his insights into the most effective strategies and changes needed to achieve success in today’s economic climate.
The program was long over, banners were taken down and the room was being reorganized, but several of the attendees lingered to speak with Cooperperson and Severino.
It seems that, in the end, the result of the day was an engaged audience that took away a good deal of business knowledge and a real spark of interest in Best Buddies New York. With that many doors opened for BBNY, the possibilities are endless. |
